Sacked over sex life: the dangers of unusual fetishes
There’s been a recent spate of Nazi fetish stories getting editors across the world up in arms.
This week saw Gareth Mead (an English Member of Parliament) and Michelle ‘Bombshell’ McGee (famous for sleeping with Jesse James). Photos of both these people in sexual poses, swastikas and Nazi salutes were found by reporters. Mead lost his job because his bosses felt the implications of the photos weren’t suitable for his position in such an ethnic community as Hammersmith and Fulham.
Mead said: “It’s a private fetish – I’m not interested in anything political and I’m not a racist. There are Jewish men who do this as well.”
Gareth Mead is not the first public figure to be sacked because of their sex life – in 2006 the Liberal Democrats Home Affairs spokesperson Mark Oaten was sacked after newspaper reports of hiring rent boys and his copraphilia fetish and a year later Katie Hopkins, a contestant on The Apprentice, was sacked for having sex in a public place – the Daily Mail photographed her at it in a cornfield.
